IPB University as Top 3 Indonesian Best Public Universities and Most Joint Publication Contributor
This year, IPB University once again accomplished to maintain strong standing by ranking 3rd in latest list of Indonesian Best Public Universities released by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republic of Indonesia (Ristekdikti) on August 15th, 2019 in Jakarta—with total point of 3,577; just below Bandung Institute of Technology (3,671) and Gadjah Mada University (3,594). Clustering of higher educations in Indonesia is intended to encourage universities to become more advanced and global. It is also seen as a form of performance evaluation of tertiary institutions. Mohammad Nasir—Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Republic Indonesia explained 4 (four) main criteria, namely input, process, output, and outcome. The highest percentage is the outcomes as it plays immense role of universities within the community. There are some new indicators used in this year's assessment as well, namely number of foreign lecturers, online learning, completeness of the higher education institution database report, financial reports, percentage of graduates who are employed after six months, number of citations per lecturer, and number of patents per lecturer. Moreover, in the other occasion, Director of Research and Community Service, Ristekdikti—Prof. Ocky Karna Radjasa has stated another key strength of IPB University that is as the best higher education institution in joint publications. IPB University in top rank contributed the most (29%), followed by Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) which reached 16% total joint publications. Concerning achievements obtained by IPB University this year, Rector—Dr. Arif Satria praised all university members for such hard work throughout, notably on research, community service, tertiary management, and innovations. He too expressed hopes to motivate the youth to raise greater awareness and attentions toward Indonesian agriculture. In addition, it brings major impact on competitiveness value of IPB University for potential new students across the archipelago, so that together academia of IPB University will strive better and better in advancing the Indonesian agriculture.
