Six representatives of Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) visited Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Monday (12/11). The group was welcome by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto accompanied by Head of Sub-Directorate for International Programs IPB, Dr. Muhammad Agil, M.Sc, in Darmaga Campus.

"Our arrival here is for a comparative study visit to Indonesia, especially to IPB concerning a variety of academic activities, teaching and learning, curriculum, student activities and so on. The results of this comparative study would be a valuable input to prepare our institution for the implementation of AFTA 2015 and establish an ASEAN Community," said the teaching staff of the School of Management, MFU, Miss Prasopsiri P.

IPB Rector said a comparative study like this is very good to develop to explore the possibilities of course credit transfer, double degree, staff transfer, student exchange between higher education institutions. "What we need is to align the academic schedules. IPB has adopted the international academic schedule with classes beginning in September. I heard that this is so in Thailand and Malaysia, which has changed the academic calendar previously opened in June into September, but the Philippines has not specifically made changes to the academic calendar," said IPB Rector.

Before meeting with IPB Rector of IPB, the group visited the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology and attended the lecture on food quality and its laboratory practice with English as the language of instruction. They also tried to take the long distance learning that has been implemented there. (Mtd)
