Seoul National University Visits Faculty of Animal Science IPB University, Introduces Scholarship Program

Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) together with School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science (SKHB) IPB University and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) received a visit from the delegation of Seoul National University (SNU) Pyeongchang Campus, Republic of Korea. 

The delegation was received by the leaders of Fapet and SKHB and their staff, which were Dean of Fapet Prof Idat Galih Permana, Dean of SKHB Dr drh Amrozi and the Vice Deans of Fapet and SKHB, such as Prof Irma Isnafia Arief, Prof Sri Suharti, Prof drh Ni Wayan Kurniani Karja, and Dr drh Andriyanto in the Fapet Conference Room, Dramaga Campus, Bogor (20/1).

The event was opened with the Deans’ presentation about the history of the faculty and school, departments, divisions, and study programs. Both Deans also conveyed several things related to academics, facilities, publications, innovations to international collaboration with universities abroad.

From SNU, Prof Tae Min Kim was present to introduce the Applied Animal Science Department, Graduate School of International Agriculture, SNU. In his presentation, Prof Tae Min Kim explained about international classes at SNU as well as several scholarship programs.

These scholarships include SNU Global Scholarship (GS), Graduate Scholarship for Foreigners Students (GSFS), SNU President Fellowship Program (SPF), Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Global Scholarship, Samsung Global Hope Scholarship, Sinyang Global Scholarship, and Silk-Road Scholarship.

Prof Tae Min Kim also explained the nine laboratories and their respective lab heads under the faculty, namely Laboratory of Animal Energy Metabolism (Prof Kyoung Hoon Kim), Laboratory of Applied Animal Nutrition (Prof Byung Chul Park), Laboratory of Grassland and Forage Science (Prof Jong Geun Kim).

Furthermore, there is Laboratory of Animal Bioresources Development (Prof Sang-Kee Kang), Laboratory of System Pharmacology (Prof Joong Hoon Park), and Laboratory of Animal Genome Modulation (Prof Tae Sub Park). The 7th and 8th laboratories, Laboratory of Designed Animal Science (Prof Su Cheong Yeom) and Laboratory of Disease Modeling (Prof Tae Min Kim). The last laboratory is Laboratory of Meat Science (Prof Gap Don Kim).

The activity continued with discussions and visits to several research facilities in Fapet, including the Feed Manufacturing and Industry Division to review the animal feed factory which was recently launched at the end of 2024 yesterday. (Femmy) (IAAS/RUM)
