IPB University Delivers Three Students to Follow International Program at Chiba University

IPB University’s international collaboration with Chiba University, Japan continues to be established. Recently, the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University attended the Spring Institute of Asia and ASEAN Center for Educational Research at Chiba University (6-10/2).

In this momentum, three IPB University students were selected to take part in an international program at Chiba University. They got the opportunity after going through a rigorous selection.

The three IPB University students consisted of one student who would follow the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarship program, the remaining two for the Sakura Science Exchange Program 2025.

“Hopefully, this program can enrich international experience and improve the research capabilities of IPB University students,” said Prof Yusli Wardiatno, Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni.

Spring Institute of Asia and ASEAN Center for Educational Research is one of the international cooperation programs at SPs that continues to be maintained every year. This cooperation also helps curriculum development, international networks, quality of education and increase the reputation of IPB University in the international realm.

In this activity, Prof Yusli who was accompanied by Prof Titi Candra Sunarti ( Vice Dean of Resources, Cooperation, and Development), Harris Budilaksono (Education Personnel) also met with Prof Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo from the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing National University Corporation, Chiba University.

This meeting discussed several cooperation programs, one of which was the Double Degree (DD) program with Chiba University for the environmental and remote sensing fields.

“The Chiba University DD program with SPs IPB University is planned with the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Science Study Program which already has several international cooperation programs, so that it can be realized immediately,” added Prof Yusli. 

Introducing IPB at SRIT

On the sidelines of his visit to Japan, Prof Yusli also got the opportunity from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo (KBRI Tokyo) to introduce IPB University to students and teachers at the School of the Republic of Indonesia Tokyo. 

“The choice of study programs at IPB University is very diverse and can be an option as a destination for students at SRIT to continue their studies. Many of the alumni of IPB University have become examples of leaders in various fields, both those who have careers in Indonesia and in Japan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ari Driyaningsih, Chief of SRIT explained, SRIT is one of the oldest Indonesian Schools Abroad (SILN) and has been in accordance with the Indonesian education curriculum. “Currently, the School of the Republic of Indonesia Tokyo has kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school education levels,” she said.

Ir Heri Akhmadi, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan also advised that educational and research cooperation between universities in Indonesia and Japan could be maximized. “Some programs can be adopted by universities in Indonesia, especially IPB University in order to contribute and friendship between Indonesia and Japan,” he added.
