IPB University Collaborates with KOICA, Strengthening National Sustainable Development

IPB University collaborates with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to strengthen national sustainable development. One of the follow-ups of the cooperation agenda, the KOICA team held an External Expert Visit to IPB University.

Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria on that occasion said that international collaboration between universities and partnerships with industry are very important to expand the impact.

He explained that IPB University has various research stations and learning centers for the community, such as Agribusiness and Technology Park (ATP) in Dramaga, Bogor and Pasir Sarongge, Cianjur; Science Techno Park (STP); IPB Innovation Valley Jonggol; Primate Conservation Center on Tinjil Island; and others.

A number of research stations and learning centers are intended to provide dissemination of IPB University innovations, farmer assistance, education and study of horticultural technology applications, effective marketing systems and increased added value.

“The main ecosystem of this model includes education and student affairs, research and innovation, and community development. The goal of the ecosystem is to produce superior human resources,” he said.

“We strongly believe that to produce potential innovations, institutions need to have strong research programs. These research activities will be the key to innovation development,” he said.

Prof Arif hoped that the External Expert Visit would provide valuable insights and constructive input for the KOICA team. (AS) (IAAS/RUM)
