Department of MSP IPB University Holds Scientific Expo to Appreciate Student MBKM Results
The Department of Aquatic Resources Management (MSP) of IPB University held a Scientific Expo of Freedom of Learning – Independence Campus (MBKM) at Sumardi Sastrakusumah Auditorium, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) IPB University.
The Expo aims to present the results of students’ MBKM activities in the form of informative posters, activity videos, and project videos. A total of 36 student groups presented the results of their MBKM activities in turn.
In addition, the expo was designed with a combination of 36 infographic exhibitions displayed on panels and 36 interesting video shows about student activities during MBKM.
Dean of FPIK IPB University, Prof Fredinan Yulianda appreciated the implementation of this activity. He said that this MBKM Scientific Expo is the only one in FPIK IPB University which has been carried out since 2023.
“This Expo can be a role model because it is a place to appreciate the hard work of students while doing MBKM. In addition, this is also a place for students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they master during direct activities in the field and interact directly with the community, government, and the world of business and industry (DUDI),” he concluded.
Previously, the MSP Department had implemented 20 semester credit units (SKS) of MBKM in semester 7. All 58 MSP students also participated in MBKM activities in various locations.
A total of 10 credits of enrichment courses and 10 credits of compulsory courses are organized as capstone activities. The students formulated an independent project in groups with the theme “Grounding the Blue Economy to Accelerate the Sustainability of Aquatic Ecosystems and Community Welfare”.
This independent project activity was facilitated by 10 MSP lecturer activities that received competitive research grants from the Research Information Base and Community Service (BIMA) program and a number of collaborations between the MSP Department and other institutions outside IPB University. This activity is also expected to contribute optimally to the performance achievement of key performance indicators (KPI) 2.
During one semester, students carry out MBKM activities in various locations, such as in the field which includes mangrove tourism areas, lake tourism, beach tourism, and small islands. Then laboratories, office areas of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), local governments, fishing ports, conservation areas, and also industries. (*/Nr) (IAAS/RUM)
