All Indonesian Environmental Study Programs Gather at IPB University, Preparing to Establish Independent Accreditation Institution
IPB University hosted the Workshop on Institutional Preparation and Information System of Independent Accreditation Agency (LAM) of Environmental Design and Planning (Depilar). This meeting was attended by environmental study programs throughout Indonesia as a committee for the establishment of LAM at Baranangsiang Campus, IPB University (15/2).
Prof Widiatmaka, Chairman of the Doctoral Study Program of Study Program of Natural Resources and Environmental Management Science (PSL) conveyed, in accordance with the mandate of the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 53/2023 concerning Quality Assurance of Higher Education, LAM became an important part of external quality assurance.
“LAM Depilar is an institution formed to carry out accreditation for study programs within the scope of the design, planning, environment, architecture, and other related science clumps,” he said.
Prof Widiatmaka added, in the establishment of this LAM Depilar, Study Program of IPB University as one of the oldest environmental study programs felt the need to contribute and play a major role in the development of LAM.
“Therefore, the PSL Doctoral Program needs to take a real role to become the motor of environmental study programs in the establishment of this LAM Depilar. In parallel, in 2025 the PSL Doctoral Program will also apply for international accreditation so that it is in line with efforts to guarantee the quality of education and university management,” he added.
Prof Lina Karlinasari, Secretary of the PSL Doctoral Program explained that this was a follow-up meeting from previous workshops. The LAM Depilar was initiated by the Professional Organization (OP) and the Association of Study Program Management Units (AUPPS) of related science clumps on May 20, 2024 in Jakarta.
Currently, 8 OPs and 6 AUPPS are the motor of the process of formation and recognition by the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
“It is expected that in 2025 LAM Depilar can already be established. At IPB University, the study programs that will be able to refer to accreditation by LAM Depilar are NREMS Study Program, Regional Planning Science Study Program (PWL), and Landscape Architecture Study Program (ARL),” she explained.
Meanwhile, Dr Yulianto Purwono Prihatmaji, Chairman of the LAM Depilar Establishment Team said that the workshop focused on technical steps in an effort to accelerate the institutional process and the preparation of the LAM information system. Not only that, this forum is a consolidation step for the accreditation instrument material that is being compiled.
