TNC IPB University and Taiwan Synergy in Modern Agriculture
Farmer and Fisheries Centre (TNC) IPB University initiated a collaboration with National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) and PT APEC Global Sinergi.
According to the Chairman of TNC IPB University, Prof Hermanu Tri Widodo, this collaboration was carried out in an effort to advance agricultural practices in Indonesia while increasing the attractiveness of the younger generation to agriculture.
“Thank you to Dr Eric Lan Kuan Hua and Mr William Sutioso from PT APEC for facilitating the collaboration with NCHU, Taiwan,” Prof Hermanu said during the meeting at the Discussion Room of the College of Agriculture and National Resources, NCHU.
“We are excited to work with NCHU and PT APEC to support and improve agriculture in Indonesia,” he added.
The cooperation initiation was also attended by Dr Roza Yusfiandayani (Vice Chief of TNC); Prof Chih Feng Chen (Dean of the College of Agriculture and National Resources), Prof Shaw Yhi Hwang (Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture and National Resources), Prof Wen Hsin Chung (lecturer of the Department of Plant Protection), Ming Yi Chou, PhD (Director of International Cooperation), Tang, Zhi Yue (millennial grape farmer in Taiwan), and Yang Kuei Chen.
Prof Chih Feng Chen welcomed the cooperation with IPB University and PT APEC. “We can transfer knowledge and technology for innovation in agriculture, and can also educate the younger generation to develop their knowledge and become millennial farmers,” he said.
Dr Eric Lan, representing PT APEC, is committed to developing cooperation between IPB University and NCHU academics to improve the sustainability and quality of agricultural products in Indonesia.
William, also representing PT APEC, said, “By synergising, we will have many opportunities and with a good strategy, we can work well together in the future.”
The collaboration between TNC IPB University, NCHU and PT APEC Global Sinergi is expected to benefit the community and create millennial farmers. The activity continued with a visit to the Insect Museum and to the Plant Hospital at NCHU. (RY/Rz) (IAAS/RSL)
