The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development of IPB University again implemented the Dosen Pulang Kampung program (Dospulkam) with a focus on assisting chicken processing businesses in Mangkubumi Village, Sadananya District, Ciamis Regency, West Java.

This program aims to strengthen the business institutions of Paguyuban Ambu Geulis, a community of artisans known for its superior production of yellow spice jerk chicken typical of Ciamis.

This activity began with a discussion between the implementation team and the group management and representatives of the Ambu Geulis Association members. The discussion covered work plans and institutional development strategies aimed at increasing competitiveness and product marketing reach to a regional and international scale.

Dr Ujang Sehabudin, leader of the implementation team, said that the program was designed to improve the managerial and production skills of the association members. “We hope this assistance can strengthen the institutional system and expand market access, so that the welfare of the community increases,” he said.

Other members of the team, Dr Adi Hadianto, Dr Dian Herawati, and Bahroin Idris Tampubolon, SE, MSi, also provided technical training and assistance in business management and marketing.

A visit to the production site was also made to see the chicken processing from slaughtering to ready-to-sell products, as well as assistance in recording the business finances of the Ambu Geulis Association.

Dr Agus Oman Sudrajat was present as a reviewer to assess the impact of the program on the community and provide input for further development.

The enthusiasm of the community can be seen from their active participation during the activities. One of the community members, Lulu, expressed her hope that this program can continue.

“So far, we have seen lecturers returning home, but this is the first time we have received a community service program that really ‘lecturers returning home’ sharing their knowledge and experience. This kind of assistance is very helpful for us in improving product quality and expanding the market. We hope this activity can become a routine program so that our business can grow,” he said.

The program ended with a buffet lunch served by members of the association, strengthening the atmosphere of togetherness and the spirit of collaboration between academics and local communities.
