IPB University Showcases 117 Excellent Community Service Programs

The Directorate of Community Development (DPMA) of IPB University successfully displayed 117 community service programs implemented by the academic community in the 2024 Community Service Results Seminar. This event is one of a series of activities of IPB 2024 Research and Innovation Week.

“This seminar is a real step to realize sustainable development in Indonesia. Involving academics, practitioners, and experts from various fields, this event is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of innovations that benefit the wider community,” said Director of PMA IPB University, Dr Purwawangsa.

On the first day, interactive discussions were held in seven breakout rooms based on the fields of agriculture, fisheries, animal science, forestry, development economics, social humanities, and application of technology and science.

Each breakout room featured three discussion sessions guided by experts, discussing topics such as technological empowerment in agriculture, innovation in eel cultivation in fisheries, and digitalization of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the technology and science sector.

The interactive discussion was hosted by a number of experienced moderators, including Dr Zulfikar Damaralam Sahid, Dr Roza Yusfiandayani, Dr Bramada Winiar Putra, and Prof I Wayan Budiastra.

Topics covered included farmer institutional transformation, nutrition counseling, literacy in foot and mouth disease (FMD), and management of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes). The event aimed to support the implementation of sustainable innovations, with practical ideas that are relevant to be applied in the community.

On the following day, the seminar continued with more focused discussions in three breakout rooms, which were: agriculture, fisheries, and the Information Base program: agriculture, fisheries, and the Basis for Information on Research and Community Service (BIMA) program. 

Moderators such as Rajib Gandi, SKPm, MSi, and Prof Sata Yoshida Srie Rahayu, guided the discussions. The focus of the discussion included the latest technology in the agricultural sector, maritime resource management, and technology-based community empowerment in the BIMA program.
