IPB University Ready to Collaborate in Agriculture and Rural Areas with the Chinese Parliament
IPB University received an audience from the Chinese Parliament Delegation. The delegation team was received by Prof. Ernan Rustiadi, Vice Rector of IPB University for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development in the Rector’s Conference Room, IPB Dramaga Campus, Tuesday (10/12).
The delegation was led by Fan Xiaojun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Parliament, as well as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC) and representatives of the Chinese Embassy to Indonesia.
“Hopefully, with the visit of the Committee of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of NPC China to IPB University, they can know the potential and strategic value of IPB University in Indonesia. Hopefully in the future there will be cooperation, especially with the best universities in agriculture in China,” he said.
He also added, IPB University’s cooperation in agriculture and rural areas with institutions in China has been running in the last two years.
“Agriculture is the most strategic area of cooperation to be enhanced with the Chinese government. The goal is to increase food production, farmers’ welfare, and national food security,” he explained.
During the meeting, Fan Xiaojun explained that his party has a vision in agriculture and rural areas in China. He also oversees government policies in agriculture and rural areas.
“We hope that the cooperation between Indonesia and China will be closer because the two leaders have met and agreed on a number of things such as in the field of agriculture,” he said.
He also hopes that the results of this discussion will bring many inputs to China. His party will also follow up on this meeting to related parties.
“From the results of this discussion I noted several important points related to food crop breeding and breeding, precision village mapping, joint research centers, and exchange of lecturers or students,” he explained.
In addition, the existence of a representative office of Chinese universities at IPB University and food safety supervision were also points discussed in this meeting. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
