IPB University ranked 29th in the world as a Sustainable Green Campus version of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024. The position increased from 34th place in 2023.

This achievement was given to IPB University at the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024 event held at Sao Paulo University, Brazil (12/12). Meanwhile at the national level, IPB University is still ranked fourth.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria congratulated him on this extraordinary achievement. He admitted that he was proud of the improvement of his achievements in the 15th UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024 award ceremony.

He said that this ranking is proof of IPB University’s commitment in implementing sustainability principles that are the foundation in campus management and all educational activities in the university environment.

“Hopefully this achievement can be a motivation for all to continue to prioritise better sustainability values,” he said.

Chairman of UI Green Metric, Prof Riri Fitri Sari said that the 15th UI Greenmetric was attended by 1,477 institutions from 95 countries.

This ranking aims to explain the results of an online survey that explores the conditions and policies related to sustainability efforts and institutional improvement in various universities around the world.

“Through this initiative, I hope that university leaders will be more focussed on issues of global climate change, clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, green transportation, and the development of sustainable education and research,” she said.

Prof Riri continued, the achievement of sustainability goals requires increased awareness and behavioural changes in various sectors.

“Therefore, joint efforts are needed from various parties so that the desired changes can be realised in reality,” she said. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/ZQA)
