IPB University Collaborates with Japan Wagyu Co Ltd to Increase National Beef Cattle Productivity
IPB University is collaborating with Japan Wagyu Co Ltd to increase the productivity of national beef cattle through the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI).
The signing of this cooperation was carried out by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, and the Chief of Executive Officer of Japan Wagyu Co Ltd, Datuk Seri Dr Richard Teo, and witnessed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, Ir Heri Akhmadi at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor (11/12).
Japan Wagyu Co Ltd itself is a Japanese company engaged in wagyu meat farming and distribution. The company focuses on breeding, processing, and marketing high quality wagyu meat, both for domestic and international markets.
Prof Arif Satria expressed his appreciation to Japan Wagyu Co Ltd for their efforts to collaborate with IPB University in developing the cattle farming business.
“This collaboration not only brings together academic excellence and technological innovation, but also supports a shared vision of creating a sustainable and efficient livestock model,” he said.
Prof Arif continued, the cattle breeding sector faces various challenges, including the need for sustainable land management, increased productivity, health and welfare of livestock.
Through this collaboration, said Prof Arif, it is expected to be able to answer these challenges through the plan to utilize IPB University’s land in Jonggol Animal Science Teaching and Research Unit (UP3J) as a center for animal husbandry activities with optimal management.
“We also hope that the expertise of IPB University experts and the application of technology from Japan Wagyu Co Ltd can increase the productivity and efficiency of animal husbandry. Hopefully, we can also conduct joint research and develop capacity building programs through training and internships,” he said.
Datuk Seri Dr Richard Teo said that the signing of the LoI between Japan Wagyu Ltd and IPB University was the first step of strategic cooperation in developing the cattle breeding business in Indonesia.
He hoped this cooperation could improve national livestock productivity as well as the quality and quantity of beef cattle in Indonesia. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
