Directorate of Human Resources of IPB University Holds Capacity Building, Honing the Professionalism of the Vice Deans

The Directorate of Human Resources (SDM) of IPB University successfully held Capacity Building and Outbound Training activities which were attended by vice deans from all faculties and schools at IPB University, in Yogyakarta (12-14/12).
Carrying the theme “Nurturing Minds and Crafting a Brighter Tomorrow of IPB University”, this training is designed to strengthen the leadership, communication, and collaboration skills of the vice deans.
At the opening remarks, Dr Heti Mulyati, Director of Human Resources of IPB University conveyed the importance of capacity development for leaders in the academic environment. “Through this activity, we hope that the vice deans can be more skilled in carrying out their roles as change movers,” she said.
In addition, she said, this activity also aims to strengthen cross-faculty cooperation in supporting IPB University’s vision towards a sustainable world-class university.
This training includes various sessions that combine indoor and outdoor activities, ranging from problem-solving simulations to outbounds that challenge team cohesion.
Outdoor activities are carried out through the introduction of nature in several areas of Yogyakarta, providing opportunities for participants to explore the beauty of nature as well as strengthen their cooperation skills.
According to Dr Heti, the participants were also invited to discuss strategies to improve the quality of education, student services, human resource quality development, and academic innovation that are relevant to today’s challenges.
“The benefits of this training are not only felt individually by the participants, but also have a wide impact on the institution. The deputy deans get the opportunity to evaluate their leadership style, share experiences, and build a stronger network,” said Dr Heti.
Thus, she continued, they can bring this collaborative spirit back to their respective work environments, strengthen team dynamics in faculties and schools, and give a positive impact to the progress of IPB University as a whole.
One of the interesting sessions was a sharing session with Prof. Suadi, Director of Human Resources of Gadjah Mada University (UGM). In that session, he shared UGM’s experience in managing human resources, especially efforts to align with the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Permendikbudristek) Number 44 of 2024 concerning Profession, Career, and Lecturer Income as well as the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Number 500/M/2024 regarding the Minimum Standard for Lecturer Performance Indicators and Scientific Publication Criteria.
“This knowledge is very important to increase the understanding of the deputy deans regarding the career level of lecturers and groups of expertise which in turn will support the development of academic quality at IPB University,” he added.
One of the participants, Prof. Yusli Wardiatno, Vice Dean of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, revealed that this activity provides many new insights, especially in terms of time management and strategic decision-making in any situation.
“This activity can add inspiration to continue to innovate in providing services to stakeholders,” he said.
Through this training, participants are also given space for reflection and mental refreshment. The warm and inspiring atmosphere of Yogyakarta makes the vice deans reflect on the strategic steps that can be taken to support IPB University to face the future.
Dr Heti said, IPB University continues to show its commitment to strengthen competent, professional, and competitive human resources at the global level.
“The success of this training is expected to be the first step of various other capacity development programs in the future, in order to realise the vision of IPB University as a leading centre of higher education in Indonesia and the world,” he concluded. (*/Nr) (IAAS/IAN)
