The Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University invited the Delegation of the Postgraduate Leadership Forum (Forpimpas) of State Universities in the Western Region to Situ Gunung National Park, Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP), Sukabumi (13/11).

TNGGP is located at 1.100 meters above sea level (masl). This area has a lot of natural beauty that becomes a natural tourist attraction. TNGGP is also one of the first five national parks in Indonesia announced by the Minister of Agriculture on March 6, 1980. Before being designated as TNGGP, the forest group was designated as the core zone of the Cibodas Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1977.

Prof Titi Candra Sunarti, Vice Dean of SPs IPB University in the field of Resources, Cooperation, and Development said, the purpose of the Forpimpas delegation being invited to the Situ Gunung area is to know the importance of forest management for tourism. In addition, this activity also provides experience about forest healing in TNGGP which is administratively located in three districts, namely Cianjur, Sukabumi, and Bogor.

Meanwhile, Aden Mahyar Burhanuddin, SH, MH, Section Chair of Region IV Situ Gunung TNGGP explained, TNGGP has an area of 24,270.80 hectares. One of the famous resorts located in TNGGP is the Situ Gunung National Park Management Resort.

Situ Gunung National Park has the Situgunung Suspension Bridge which was made as a means of nature conservation education, observation of flora and fauna. This is the longest suspension bridge in the middle of the forest in Southeast Asia.

“Situgunung Bridge stretches 243 meters long, with a width of 1.8 meters, and a height of 121 meters above ground level. Its existence has a positive effect on local residents.
