The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences held an Integrity Clinic Interactive Seminar with the theme “Communication Skills for Veterinary Students to Improve Resilience Society”. This activity aims to improve the ability of SKHB students to communicate to the community.

In the opening remarks, the Vice Dean of SKHB IPB University for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof drh Ni Wayan Kurniani Karja said that student communication skills need to be improved, especially communication in society.

“Communication skills are needed for veterinarians as stated in the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). This activity is expected to provide knowledge on how to communicate and improve literacy for all SKHB IPB University students,” she said.

This activity invited veterinary speakers as well as the owner of the HugMe by Vet veterinary clinic, namely drh Anggara Fajri Prasafitra who presented material entitled “2025 Say No to Hoaks”.

In his presentation, drh Angga explained the benefits and importance of literacy for the community. Moreover, nowadays it is so easy for someone to access news on the internet to obtain news whose truth is uncertain.

“The lack of literacy in Indonesia means that people are easily exposed to hoaxes without finding out the truth,” he said.

At the end of the material, he gave a case study that would later be discussed and presented by students in groups. The case study is about news that is not necessarily true.

After the presentation, drh Angga added the importance of finding news with trusted sources and reading articles carefully so as not to easily believe the information circulating. (IAAS/NAU)
