SPs IPB University and Diktiristek Hold Monev for KNB Scholarship Students
The Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University and the Institutional Directorate of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) held a monitoring and evaluation (monev) of the Developing Country Partnership (KNB) scholarship in 2024.
The Monev discussed the final report on the use of educational assistance and scholarship management assistance funds. The activity took place in Room 301, SPs Building, IPB Dramaga Campus (14/11).
The Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Resources, Cooperation, and Development, Prof Titi Candra Sunarti in her speech explained that there are currently 22 KNB students at SPs IPB University from various generations.
“Currently KNB students in 2024 are participating in an Indonesian language training program for two semesters. Later they will take the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) to test their ability,” she said.
Prof Yusli Wardiatno as the Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations added, the 2024 KNB students at IPB University were 10 students, both from master’s and doctoral programs. They come from Yemen, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Egypt, Thailand, Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Timor Leste, and Ghana.
“KNB scholarships are offered to foreign citizens from developing countries who have academic potential and have an interest in studying at universities (PT) in Indonesia. IPB University is one of the many reputable PT in Indonesia that has been mandated to carry out this program,” he added.
Indonesian Language Coordinator for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) IPB University, Dr Defina also said, based on the law, foreign students who study in Indonesia must at least have level five to be able to attend lectures in Indonesian. The results from UKBI will be a guideline for IPB University SPs to know their level.
“Our hope is that KNB students can get the Semenjana predicate with a score of 405-481. The predicate shows that UKBI participants are quite adequate in communicating using Indonesian, both spoken and written,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Institutional Strengthening Work Team of the Directorate General of Diktiristek, Wahyu Hidayat said that this monev aims to see the development of students who receive KNB scholarships of all classes, how to supervise, and also manage them while at SPs IPB University.
“KNB students, class of 2024, conveyed that during the lecture, the Indonesian language class was very active and effective, so that students were fluent in Indonesian as a preparation for attending lectures at IPB University,” he added. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/IAN)
