SKHB IPB University Briefs Veterinary Professional Ethics and Nursing to Veterinary Candidates
School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) IPB University held a briefing on veterinary professional ethics and nursing to prospective veterinarians. They are students of the Veterinary Professional Education Program (PPDH) Semester 3 Phase 2023/2024.
The activity was held on Tuesday-Thursday (12-14/11) and took place in the SKHB Transformation Hall, IPB Dramaga Campus. This activity was attended by the Dean, Chairman of PPDH Study Program, Secretary of PPDH, and related lecturers.
On the first day, the activity was filled with three speakers with different materials, starting with the first speaker, Dr drh Heru Setijanto, PA Vet (K), with the theme Introduction to the Veterinary Profession. Dr Heru said, “There are several things that need to be considered, namely ethics, morals, and legal aspects in general and their importance in supporting the implementation of veterinary practices and the fulfillment of veterinary professional competencies.”
The activity continued with the second and third speakers, Dr Soenarti Daroendio, MSi, MARS and Dr Ika Friskawati with the theme of the Indonesian Veterinary Code of Ethics.
Dr Soenarti conveyed the Code of Ethics of Indonesian Veterinarians resulting from the 19th Congress of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI) in 2022. She also talked about the development of ethical leadership. Meanwhile, Doctor Ika explained about the relationship between doctors and patients, doctors and clients, doctors and their colleagues and doctors to their profession.
On the second day, the activity was filled with four speakers with different materials, starting with the first speaker, Drh Permanawati (Professional Ethics in the Workplace, Research Animal Practitioners), Drh Erik Ginting (Professional Ethics in the Workplace of the Veterinary Drug Industry), Drh Totok Setyarto (Professional Ethics in the Workplace of the Feed Industry), and Drh Albertus Teguh Muljono, MSc (Professional Ethics in the Workplace of Animal Health Information Systems).
On the last day, the activity was filled with two presenters and case study practices by Dr drh Setyo Widodo (Medical Records) and Dr drh Sri Estuningsih (Malethics, Malpractice in Practicing Veterinary Medicine). The activity continued with the division of groups containing 10-11 students for case study practice, each group got a different case that had to be presented on how to handle it. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
