The Halal Science Center (HSC) at IPB University took part in the Launch and Press Conference of PT Lion Super Indo’s Halal Certification on Wednesday (30/10) in Jakarta.

This symbolic halal certification ceremony was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), the President Director of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Research Institute of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI), HSC IPB University representatives, and Lion Super Indo’s management.

During the halal certification process, PT Lion Super Indo utilized Halal Certification Technical Guidance (Bimtek) services provided by HSC IPB University. The guidance included halal supervisor training based on Indonesia’s National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), gap analysis of facilities and documents, assistance in preparing documents, and support in the halal certification process, including a mock-up audit conducted at Super Indo’s head office, stores, and distribution centers.

Prof Khaswar Syamsu, Chief of HSC IPB University, expressed pride in assisting Super Indo throughout its halal certification journey. “This achievement not only reflects Super Indo’s dedication to providing quality products but also their commitment to meeting the high halal standards expected and deserved by consumers,” he stated.

“We believe halal certification is more than just compliance. It embodies a holistic approach to food safety, quality assurance, and ethical responsibility,” he added, noting that this accomplishment strengthens consumer trust in the Super Indo brand.

PT Lion Super Indo successfully obtained Halal Certification in two categories: Sales Services, with certification ID00410020402620824, and Food and Beverage Provision with Processing, under certification ID00410020401140824. Super Indo also achieved an A rating, indicating Excellent, in the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH).

“Our commitment is to uphold consumer trust by providing products and services that adhere to halal standards. For us, halal certification is not just a label; it is a reflection of our company’s values that prioritize quality and customer satisfaction,” said Boudewijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, President Director of Super Indo.

Dr H Muhammad Aqil Irham, Chief Secretary of BPJPH, praised PT Lion Super Indo’s accomplishment. “With this halal certification, Super Indo supports the growth of Indonesia’s halal industry ecosystem, in line with Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance.”

He further emphasized that this step aligns with the government’s program, which mandates halal certification by October 17, 2024, to ensure consumer trust in certified halal products.

Ir Muti Arintawati, M.Si., President Director of LPPOM MUI, added, “This achievement is proof of Super Indo’s commitment to uphold quality and integrity standards in their products.”

She emphasized that in today’s market, consumers are increasingly conscious about the food they consume, making this certification essential for building trust and transparency in the food industry. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
