Professional Association of Agribusiness Students of IPB University Studying at PT Firma Agros Terra Agroindustri in Sukabumi
The Professional Association of Agribusiness Students (Hipma) of IPB University successfully held a Company Visit to PT Firma Agros Terra Agroindustri, Sukabumi, West Java. This activity aims to provide knowledge and insight to students of the Agribusiness Department regarding the production process and company management as a provision for the post-campus working world.
This event was accompanied by three lecturers, namely Ir Narni Farmayanti, MSc; Al-May Abyan Izzy Burhani, SE, MSi; and Vanesha Miranda, SE, MSi; as well as two educational personnel namely Kokom Komariah, SE, MM and Nurul Atikah, AMd.
The activity began with a discussion session at the White House, which is the official meeting place of the company. This session was opened with a speech by Al-May Abyan Izzy Burhani, SE, MSi representing the lecturers, and Radja Panutan SE, MSi as the President Director of PT Firma Terra Agroindustri as well as an alumnus of the Agribusiness Department of IPB University batch 54. Then, there is the delivery of material about the company’s history and production management.
In the material session, Radja Panutan conveyed motivation to the participants. “As a business person, it is very important to equip yourself with strong knowledge and motivation. Because for financial constraints there will always be a way out as long as we always try our best. As a student, it is also expected to be active in various positive activities and not be afraid of failure if you want to run a business,” said Radja.
Then, the activity continued with direct observation at the company’s Jabon Putih plantation located in Lembursitu District, Sukabumi City. Participants can witness the practice of cultivation and direct management in the field.
Aqil Taqiyuddin, one of the students who is carrying out the capstone project at the company said, “This activity is especially useful for agribusiness students, because we can see directly what the business process is like.”
One of the participants, Nurul Izzaty, shared her positive impression. “The activity is very interesting. We learned that in starting a business, strong determination is the key, as conveyed by Mr. Radja.”
Through this activity, the participants are expected to get a deep insight into the production process and company management as well as the motivation to become entrepreneurs in the agribusiness sector.
