In preparing product exports, IPB University’s Science and Technology Area Institute (LKST) held a workshop on the preparation of international market distribution permits at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor (7/11).

Chairperson of LKST IPB University, Prof Erika B Laconi said that this activity involved 19 grantee teams, consisting of 10 innovators and 9 startups that were required to participate.

According to her, this activity is to ensure that all products resulting from downstreaming and commercialization can successfully enter the market, even ready to be marketed globally.

“Quality standards, including the acquisition of distribution licenses such as the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), must be complied with. Compliance with SNI ensures product quality, which in turn ensures consumer safety and health,” she said.

Prof Erika said the innovative products produced later must also meet applicable regulatory standards and be ready for international distribution permits.

“Hopefully this effort will provide significant benefits for the development of science and the application of technology in industry, and encourage the growth of a sustainable innovation ecosystem,” she said.

Marketing Director of PT Linkomplekt Indonesia, Valery Fedortsov shared how to start exporting to Eastern Europe. He said the export route to Eastern Europe could be through the Novorossiysk sea port of St Petersburg sea port.

“In exporting, the point is to do research and choose the right target. Learn the regulations of the destination country, especially related to food and medicine products, including quality standards and distribution permits. Adjust the applicable regulations to ensure smooth export of products in the Eastern European market,” he said.

Meanwhile, Founder of PT Mutigo Indonesia, Masni Eritrina, SE, MSi revealed export opportunities to Australia and New Zealand. She explained that both countries have developed and stable economies, with consistent growth every year. Business regulations in both countries are transparent and supportive of foreign companies.

“Consumers in Australia and New Zealand are increasingly concerned about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), so environmentally friendly products and sustainable production processes are increasingly in demand,” she said.

Founder of Ge-Shope, Gita Rusdiana, SE added that Indonesia has the opportunity to sell products to southern Africa. She said South Africa is a member of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) along with Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Swaziland.

“Indonesia has the opportunity to diversify its export market there. South Africa can also act as a hub for market penetration to other SACU member countries,” she explained.

This activity was also attended by the Deputy Chair of Innovation Development and Technology Transfer of LKST IPB University, Dr Tri Prartono; Assistant for Management and Commercialization of Intellectual Property, Dr Yuni Puji Hastuti; Assistant for Innovation Development, Prof Dwi Guntoro; and Assistant for Industrial Cooperation, Mhd.
