IPB University Inaugurates Experimental Animal Cage Unit Building
Tropical Biopharmacacal Study Center (TropBRC) IPB University inaugurated the Experimental Animal Cage Unit Building (UKHP). The building located at the IPB Dramaga Campus was inaugurated directly by the Chairman of TropBRC IPB University, Prof Mohamad Rafi (7/11).
UKHP IPB University was first established in 2006-2007 by Prof Latifah K Darusman as the Chairperson of the IPB University Biopharmaceutical Center at that time. The beginning of the establishment of UKHP occupied a small building that was the former canteen of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the IPB Taman Kencana Campus.
The initial purpose of the establishment of UKHP was to accommodate research, testing, and development of biopharmaceutical products as well as help research on the academic community of IPB University or from other campuses. The new UKHP building is currently capable of accommodating 500 mice, rabbits, and can carry out 7-10 studies in a period of one year.
“I would like to thank the Rector of IPB University Prof Arif Satria, Vice Rector for Resource and Infrastructure Resilience Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, Director General and Infrastructure Akhmad Kosasih, SE for the establishment of the UKHP Building,” said Prof Rafi.
“Hopefully we can continue to develop in doing various research services to the IPB University academic community and the general public, as well as encouraging good and useful research so that the name of IPB University is getting more popular,” he said again.
Prof Dudung Darusman, Truster of TropBRC IPB University admitted that he was grateful for the presence of this building. “I don’t think there is anything else I can say except a feeling of happiness and gratitude alhamdulilah.”
“We already have our commitment to work better. For that, I am optimistic that this unit will continue to grow because its services are increasingly needed by people,” he said.
