IPB University Bioinformatics Study Program Collaborates with MABBI and Aptikom to Hold National Bioinformatics Summit 2024
Bioinformatics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University collaborated with the Indonesian Bioinformatics and Biodiversity Society (MABBI), Association of Higher Education Informatics and Computer (Aptikom) to hold the National Bioinformatics Summit 2024. The event was held at the Startup Center Building, IPB Campus Taman Kencana Bogor (10/11).
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria in his speech expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this forum. According to him, this forum is a strategic effort to respond to various challenges of change.
“We gather at this event to continue to formulate important steps in responding to various challenges of change with new discoveries. The idea to develop bioinformatics as a new scientific development in Indonesia is very important,” he said.
Meanwhile, IPB University Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni Relations, Prof Iskandar Z Siregar stated that bioinformatics is not new. Bioinformatics is a field that is able to solve biological problems through data-informatics methods. “Bioinformatics is very interesting for research,” he said.
“Hopefully from this meeting we can encourage more innovation, especially more graduates or experts who become bioinformatics experts,” added Prof Iskandar.
MABBI Chairman, Dr Wisnu Ananta Kusuma said, this activity aims to gather experts who are active in research and the development of bioinformatics education in Indonesia.
“The hope of organizing this forum is that we can synergize to develop bioinformatics. So that later we can develop our very rich biodiversity to be more optimal so that it is beneficial for the people of Indonesia,” he said.
This event was also attended by Dr Berry Juliandi (Dean of FMIPA IPB University), Dr Kholis A Audah (MABBI Trustee), Prof Achmad Benny (Chairman of Aptikom). (AS/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
