IPB University becomes the top choice for students of the 2024 PMDSU Scholarship Program
This year, IPB University is back as the main choice of students of the Master to Doctoral Education Scholarship Programme for Excellent Scholars (PMDSU). From a total of 200 new PMDSU batch VIII students in 2024, as many as 57 students from 15 universities throughout Indonesia decided IPB University Postgraduate School as an option to continue their education.
The PMDSU Scholarship Program was first opened in 2013. At that time, IPB University was also one of the chosen universities in the first batch (PMDSU batch 1).
Prof Yusli Wardiatno, Vice Dean of the Graduate School (SPs) IPB University in the field of Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni in the monitoring and evaluation (monev) event for the implementation of the PMDSU scholarship program in 2024 conveyed his commitment to continue to improve the quality of education at SPs IPB University.
“With the increasing number of PMDSU program students at SPs IPB University, of course we will continue to improve the quality of education, because later these young people will become the nation’s assets who will become leaders in future generations,” he said.
The monev was organized by SPs IPB University in collaboration with the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Monev is intended to obtain clarification and a more complete picture of the progress of study, research progress, and publication achievements of PMDSU scholarship program recipients.
Also attending the event were PMDSU assessors, Prof Heri Kuswanto from Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya and Prof Harinaldi from University of Indonesia (UI). Also present were promoters of lecturers and students of PMDSU recipients at SPs IPB University.
PMDSU is a scholarship program for superior scholars to accelerate their education to become doctoral graduates at a young age. This program was initiated by the Directorate of Educators and Education Personnel, Directorate General of Higher Education in 2011 through discussions attended by 24 Directors of Postgraduate Programs throughout Indonesia.
While Prof Yusli assessed that the monitoring and evaluation activities of PMDSU program students were very well implemented. “This M&E certainly provides important information related to the progress of PMDSU program students’ studies and is a very good input for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and IPB University,” he concluded.
