Studium Generale at IPB University Discusses the Importance of Personal Branding and SWOT Analysis in the World of Work
IPB University organized Studium Generale and Career Preparation Training. This event was intended for prospective graduates of the IPB University Vocational School which took place at the Startup Center Building, Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor, (18/10).
Present as a guest speaker, Employee Relation Analyst of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Muhammad Ricki Cahyana, STP. He explained the importance of personal branding in building a career after graduating from campus.
Ricky explained that in building personal branding one must have a series of skills. These skills include speaking, networking, organizing, and analytics.
“These skills are important to be able to adapt to the demands of working professionally,” he explained.
Ricki also emphasized the importance of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) analysis to map your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. According to him, this analysis can be used to understand one’s current position as well as to prepare the right development steps.
“SWOT helps identify internal and external potentials that affect performance, and provides guidance for making better decisions,” he said.
Ricki added that in the competitive career world, personal branding is also one of the keys to stand out and get better opportunities.
According to him, this ability can also be used to understand personal skills and strengths, as well as how to present oneself effectively in front of an audience or potential employer.
“If our personal branding is strong, we will be able to build a good reputation and high credibility in the eyes of others,” he said.
At the event, training was also held on how to create an attractive and effective curriculum vitae (CV). The training revealed that a good CV should reflect skills, experience and achievements that are relevant to the position being applied for.
In addition, professional design, proper grammar, and highlighting points are also important aspects in making a CV that can attract the attention of recruiters. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
