SKHB IPB University Organizes Training to Enhance Practical and Professional Communication Soft Skills for PPDH Students
The School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) at IPB University has organized a training program aimed at enhancing practical and professional communication soft skills for prospective veterinarians. This training was attended by students of the Professional Education Program for Veterinarians (PPDH), Semester 3, for the academic year 2023/2024. The event took place in the SKHB Transformation Hall and was attended by the Dean, Head of the PPDH Study Program, PPDH Secretary, and relevant faculty members.
The program featured presentations from three speakers, each addressing different topics. The first speaker, Dr Dwi Retno Hapsari, presented on ‘Communication from the Consumer Behavior Perspective.’
“Effective communication is crucial for building client trust, facilitating service delivery, enhancing client satisfaction, and preventing misunderstandings,” she explained.
The second speaker, Drh Ester Br. Sembiring, discussed “Enhancing Veterinarian-Client Relationships through Competent Communication.” Drh Ester emphasized that the key components of effective communication between veterinarians and clients involve hospitable communication.
“Hospitable communication refers to making clients feel comfortable throughout the process by remembering the names of both the patient and the owner, reviewing the patient’s history and complaints, and managing customer emotions by responding to clients’ feelings,” she elaborated.
The third speaker, Drh Ninditya Anggie Wiyani Putri, presented on “Adaptation and Practical Communication for Fresh Graduate Veterinarians.” Ninditya noted that a veterinarian’s adaptation to their environment must begin with maintaining both physical and mental health, possessing fundamental and practical knowledge, and consistently updating their expertise.
“This can be achieved by building relationships with colleagues, attending various seminars and workshops, being disciplined with appointment times, and fostering good relationships with both the team and clients,” she stated. (HA/Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
