Optimizing Curriculum Data, IPB University Updates Active Courses in SIMAK
The Directorate of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology (DTPTP) of IPB University organized a Workshop on Updating the Completeness of Active Course Data (Curriculum) and Curriculum Packages in the Academic Information System (SIMAK). The event was held at Swiss-Belhotel Bogor, (27/9).
Prof Yulin Lestari, Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology of IPB University, revealed the importance of course data completeness and curriculum updates in order to improve the quality of the learning process. She emphasized that the information contained in SIMAK IPB University will be the main reference for students in taking the study plan card (KRS).
“This activity aims to ensure that study programs (prodi) and students can follow learning optimally,” she explained. Prof Yulin emphasized the importance of locking curriculum data so that there are no new course submissions in the middle of the school year, which can make it difficult for the administration to record activities.
“An up-to-date curriculum is needed according to the needs of the labor market, because many new jobs appear while the old ones have decreased,” said Prof Yulin.
Yulin. She added that training and certification are important concerns for the institution.
On the same occasion, IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, explained that the curriculum validation process is very important to ensure alignment with the 2020 Curriculum (K2020) standards. K2020 is an integrated education program at IPB University that connects learning, research, and community service.
“In the last two years, we need to ensure that all elements of the curriculum are ready before implementation. K2020 and the Freedom of Learning – Independence Campus (MBKM) program are closely related, and it is important for lecturers to understand this,” added Prof Deni.
He said, this curriculum update is expected to provide flexibility in learning while still focusing on graduate competencies. With collaboration between faculties, departments, and study programs, IPB University is committed to continuously improving the quality of education and preparing its students to face challenges in the world of work.
