LKST IPB University Along with Kemenkop UKM Organizes Demo Day and Startup Product Expo
The Institute of Science and Technology Park (LKST) IPB University in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) held a Demo Day and Startup Product Expo with the theme ‘Increasing Potential Business Towards Global Market’, at The Mirah Hotel, Bogor (7/10).
The activity carried out in the framework of the Startup Capacity Building program through Business Incubation was attended by 20 startups assisted by LKST IPB University and 17 business partners both investors and buyers.
Also present at this event were the Chief of LKST IPB University, Assistant Deputy for Information Technology Development and Business Incubation of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Chief of the Office of Cooperatives SMEs Trade and Industry of Bogor City, Director of Research and Innovation Utilization-National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Senior Investment Director Government of Victoria, Vice Chief of LKST for Business Incubation and Industrial Partnerships, and Assistant of LKST Business Incubator Division.
Christina Agustin, APi, MM as Assistant Deputy for Information Technology Development and Business Incubation of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs said that this activity was the end of a series of Startup Capacity Building activities in collaboration with LKST IPB University. Starting from Startup Recruitment, Bootcamp, Coaching Clinic, and finally Demo Day.
“This activity aims to showcase startup products or businesses to business partners so that it is hoped that mutually beneficial collaboration / cooperation can be established. The 20 startups participating in this year’s program certainly have great potential to develop with further assistance by LKST IPB University,” Christina continued.
Furthermore, Drs Firdaus, MSi as Chief of the Bogor City Cooperative Small and Medium Enterprises Trade and Industry Office said that his office is ready to collaborate with LKST IPB University to foster SMEs and startups in the Bogor City area. “We also have programs to encourage the growth and development of SMEs so that they can upgrade,” he added.
Chief of LKST IPB University, Prof Erika B Laconi also gave a speech and opened this activity. “We congratulate the 20 selected startups from the Kemenkop UKM program. Hopefully in this Demo Day activity, startups can find their respective matches according to their needs.
“In addition, startups that participate must be monitored for their business performance before and after the program to see their development and sustainability. Another important thing for startups is to improve your English, you must be able and ready to go global, so that you can explain your product / business in English,” concluded Prof Erika.
Before the pitching session, Assistant of Business Incubator Division of LKST IPB University, Deva Primadia Almada explained the mechanism of Demo Day implementation procedure. Each startup will present its pitch deck for 5 (five) minutes, then each partner will choose a startup of interest for further one on one discussion.
“Participants and business partners conduct one on one discussions at separate tables to discuss opportunities for cooperation to be carried out,” said Deva.
At this Demo Day activity, four cooperation documents were signed between startups and business partners. In addition, 22 documents of statements of follow-up meetings were produced, and four documents of statements of interest in cooperation between startups and business partners.
