In an effort to support local tourism potential and improve the economy of the local community, faculty members from the Vocational School of IPB University’s Software Engineering Technology (TPL) Program organized a community service activity by conducting website training (9/10).

This initiative aims to introduce the Organic Agro Edu-Tourism (AEWO) of Mulyaharja and other tourist attractions in Mulyaharja, Bogor City, West Java, such as Saung Eling and Lembah Fatamorgana, to a broader audience through digital platforms.

Mulyaharja is known for its natural beauty and agro-tourism potential, which has a strong appeal for tourists. However, this great potential has yet to be fully explored due to a lack of promotion and sufficient access to information.

To address this, the faculty members from IPB University’s Vocational School TPL Program developed a website that serves as an information gateway for tourists who wish to visit. The website is accessible at www.wisatamulyaharja.com.

This activity was conducted to provide website management training for Mulyaharja tourism managers and representatives from Mulyaharja Village, covering both the back-end and front-end aspects of the website.

The attending faculty team included TPL Program Head Medhanita Dewi Renanti, SKom, MKom, Program Secretary Aditya Wicaksono, SKomp, MKom, and faculty members Nur Aziezah, MSi, and Dra. Irma RG Barus, MA.

Mulyaharja Village Chief Indra Permana, SH, MH, Village Secretary Taufik Hidayat, SAP, and their staff also participated, offering feedback, suggestions, and critiques to help improve the website’s development and management. This ensures that the final website will be maximally useful for its users.

Medhanita, Chairman of the TPL Program at IPB University’s Vocational School, explained that the website is designed to provide information about tourist destinations, available facilities, and knowledge about the products produced in the Mulyaharja tourist area.

“We hope that with this website, the tourism potential of Mulyaharja will become more widely known and emerge as one of the leading destinations in Bogor City. Additionally, this website can help boost the local economy by promoting products made by the Mulyaharja community. Insyaallah, next year we will integrate Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality into the Mulyaharja tourism website,” said Medhanita.

The initiative is expected to attract a wider range of visitors over time, opening up new employment opportunities in the tourism sector. It will also strengthen the marketing network for local products, thus boosting the economy and welfare of the Mulyaharja community. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
