IPB University’s PSL Doctoral Program Holds Training on Sustainable PSDAL Design and Modeling
The Doctoral Study Program of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (PSL) of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University held a Sustainable Natural Resources and Environmental Management (PSDAL) Design and Modeling Training at the Baranangsiang Campus (13/10). This activity was attended by 34 students of the Doctoral program and in collaboration with Envitech Environmental Technology.
The training was opened by Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, Dean of SPs IPB University. In his speech, Prof Dodik welcomed the implementation of this training. This training is one of the strategies carried out by the Study Program to improve student abilities.
“This training is not only to improve student skills, but also to increase the acceleration of graduation, especially doctoral program students. Training like this is expected to help students to immediately complete their studies on time and can provide benefits for all,” he said.
Prof Dodik added, various strategies need to be done to accelerate student graduation. In addition to training like this, another strategy is to accelerate the implementation of colloquiums so as to accelerate the preparation and publication of scientific publications, as well as increasing student discipline in conducting research and writing dissertations.
“While preparing the research plan proposal, students need to start preparing scientific publications so that they can be published immediately after the colloquium. Students can together with their supervisors start making research plan proposals as soon as possible,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prof Widiatmaka, Chairperson of the PSL Doctoral Study Program SPs IPB University explained that one of the characteristics and superior competencies of PSL Doctoral Study Program graduates is the ability to design and model Sustainable PSDAL problems. “This training has been carried out since 2016 until now and is part of the long life learning program in the PSL SPs IPB University Study Program,” he explained.
Prof Widiatmaka said that this training is expected to provide more in-depth knowledge in terms of design techniques and sustainable PSDAL modeling. In addition, it is also to complement students’ knowledge in terms of design, data collection, measurement, analysis and drawing conclusions quickly and accurately for the purposes of student dissertations. “This training also provides material for writing scientific journals,” he added.
This training was held on October 13, 20, 27 and November 3, 2024. The training themes include Soft System Methodology Modeling, including the practice of using software, Experimental Design and Sampling, Scientific Journal Writing Techniques, Sustainability Analysis including practicum on the use of sustainability software, and Dynamical System Modeling with its practicum.
