IPB University Vocational School held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) themed ‘Improving the Quality of MBKM Activity Design in the Context of Increasing National Student Mobility’. This activity was attended by representatives from 15 industrial partners as well as five study programs (prodi) within the IPB University Vocational School.

Dr Anita Ristianingrum, Vice Dean of IPB University Vocational School explained the importance of practical activities in vocational education. She said that vocational education has a composition of 60 percent practice and 40 percent theory. Thus, students need more activities on and off campus.  According to her, this is important to ensure that graduates have adequate practical experience.

She also emphasized that the FGD is an opportunity to build closer cooperation between study programs and industry partners. “This discussion is expected to bridge the development and collaboration between educational institutions and industry, resulting in a stronger link and match,” said Dr Anita who is also the Chair of the Systems, Management, and Applied Engineering Division.

Dr Anita hopes that the industrial partners involved can obtain graduates who are ready to enter the world of work. “We want IPB University Vocational School graduates to be truly ready to use, in accordance with industry needs,” she said.

The study programs that attended the FGD involved three industry partners each. The Food and Nutrition Services Industry Management Study Program presented Shaza Food, RST Dompet Dhuafa, and PT Tujuh Tujuh Sejahtera Indonesia. The Accounting Study Program invited PT Respati Solusi Teknologi, PT Solusi Alihdaya Indonesia, and the Regional Revenue Agency. The Industrial Management Study Program collaborated with PT Natamas Plast, PT Futami Food & Beverages, and PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk.

In addition, the Food Quality Assurance Supervisor Study Program collaborates with PT Inasentra Unisatya, PT Halal Consultant Indonesia, and the Animal Product Quality Testing and Certification Center. While the Agribusiness Management Study Program presents partners PT Sila Agri Inovasi, PT Pegadaian, and PT Askrindo Syariah Financing Guarantee.

Through this FGD, IPB University Vocational School hopes to increase student mobility at the national level and strengthen the relationship between the campus and the industrial world to create graduates who are ready to use and in accordance with market needs. (ASW/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
