IPB University Premarital School Fosters Deep Understanding of the Importance of a Planned Marriage
The Premarital School program initiated by the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) and the Center for Human Resource Development (P2SDM) of IPB University officially held its first meeting in Sukawening Village, Bogor, West Java.
In the inaugural meeting, the learning sessions focused on the importance of preparing for marriage carefully from various aspects, including spiritual, social, and health.
The first session was delivered by Dr M Yannefri Bakhtiar. He presented the material titled ‘Marriage Motivation from Spiritual, Social, and Health Perspectives’. In his session, Dr Yannefri emphasized that marriage is not only about the union of two individuals, but also how to build a harmonious and prosperous family with a strong spiritual, social, and health foundation. The participants were enthusiastic in following this discussion, which ended with a question and answer session.
Afterwards, the atmosphere was refreshed with ice breaking, which was designed to strengthen the intimacy among the participants. The second session was then filled by Fathin and Amy representing Dr Yulina Eva Riany on the topic of ‘Why Should Marriage Be Planned?
“Wedding planning is important to be carefully prepared in order to avoid various problems that often arise in marriage. Good planning includes physical readiness, mental readiness, emotional readiness, and adequate finance,” said Fathin.
Before the event was closed, participants were given a post-test to evaluate the improvement of their understanding after attending the learning session. The first meeting of the 2024 Premarital School ended with a closing remark that underlined the importance of continuing the learning in future meetings.
With active participation and comprehensive material, it is hoped that the participants can apply the knowledge gained in real life and play a role in preventing child marriage in Sukawening Village. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Aly)
