IPB University Delegates Attend International Workshop on Micro-Credentials in Pattaya, Thailand

A delegation from IPB University attended an international workshop on microcredentials with the theme ‘Developing Guidelines for Monitoring, Review, and Evaluation of Micro-Credentials’ in Pattaya, Chonburi, Thailand (14-15/10). IPB University delegates who attended this activity were Prof Yusli Wardiatno (Vice Dean of Graduate School/SPs in the field of Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni) and Dr I Putu Santikayasa, Chairman of Applied Climatology Study Program SPs IPB University.

This workshop was part of Work Package 4 of the Postgraduate Micro-Credentials in Food Security and Climate Change (PMC FSCC) project and was attended by universities from three ASEAN countries, namely from Indonesia, represented by IPB University, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Brawijaya University (UB). From Malaysia, represented by Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and from the Philippines represented by Maejo University, Kasetsart University, University of the Philippines Los Banos, Visayas State University, and Central Luzon State University.

Prof Yusli Wardiatno said that the workshop aimed to develop a structured mechanism to monitor, review, and evaluate microcredentials in the field of food safety and climate change, “These microcredentials are very important in increasing the flexibility and specialization of learning in higher education, while still meeting the needs of industry and society,” he said.

This activity is also part of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) project. Dr Maria Cristeta N. Cuaresma, Senior Program Chairman of SEARCA and Paula Grace M Muyco, Program Specialist, Education and Collective Learning Department of SEARCA were also present. In this meeting, the participants agreed to continue the next meeting which will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on December 10-11, 2024, to improve the guidelines and strengthen cooperation among ASEAN countries.
