Himakua IPB University Invites Influencer Vina Muliana to Share Career Preparation and Personal Branding
The Aquaculture Student Association (Himakua), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) IPB University has organized Aquaboost Volume 2 by inviting influencer Vina Mauliana to share with students about preparing for careers and personal branding.
Aquaboost Volume 2 was being conducted online through Zoom Meeting. The theme of this event is “Career Preparation and Personal Branding for Professionals” which aims to provide an understanding to young people about the preparation needed in facing the world of work, including how to build good personal branding.
The Chairperson of Himakua IPB University, Alfiyanto Firdaus stated, through this program, it is hoped that there will be an increase in capacity, especially in the preparation of student careers, especially students at the Department of Aquaculture.
“Career preparation should be a concern from an early age so the student is more prepared to face the world of work. We will continue to provide the platform needed for student self-development through various programs, one of them is Aquaboost which has been successfully implemented,” said Alfiyanto.
The main session was delivered by Vina Muliana, an experienced professional in career development. According to her, a career requires a mature strategy to achieve goals.
Vina conveyed the importance of planning a career from the start by recognizing yourself, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and long-term goals. She suggested that people should identify career paths according to their interests and abilities, as well as develop relevant skills and prepare career “weapons” such as an attractive CV and interview skills.
Vina explained three important elements to improve career opportunities: deepen knowledge in the field you want to pursue, develop practical skills, and build a positive professional attitude.
In addition, Vina also emphasized the importance of practical experience through internships, volunteering or real-world projects. She suggests that individuals supplement their skills with courses or certifications in related fields, and highlights the importance of networking, by saying, “Your Network is Your Net Worth.”
Furthermore, Vina mentioned that personal branding is not only about character, but also includes digital representation, including a complete LinkedIn profile and a strong CV. “A complete LinkedIn profile opens up greater opportunities in the world of work,” she explained.
Vina shared five main principles in building personal branding. Be Gravitational: attract with positive energy, Be Brave: dare to take opportunities, Be Authentic: be true to yourself, Be Substantive and Credible: maintain integrity, and Be Consistent: act consistently to strengthen the image.
“A career is not a short journey of one or two years, but a long journey for the next 10-30 years. Do not compare yourself with others, compare yourself with yourself yesterday and continue to improve your capacity every day,” concluded Vina Muliana. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ZQA)
