Follow Economics Trip, IPB University Students Visit Thaksin University Songkhla Thailand and Indonesian Embassy Malaysia
A total of 20 IPB University students visited three countries, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia through Economics Trip (E-Trip) activities. Malaysia. This program was organized by the Student Association of Economics and Development Studies (Hypothesisa), Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM).
During the visit, IPB University students visited Thaksin University in Thailand and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The purpose of this activity is reflected in its tagline, ‘Seeing the world like an Economist’ which means a mission to see the world with an economic perspective. In this activity, students discussed, established connections, and analyzed more deeply the creative economy in terms of digitalization and industrialization in the countries visited.
During the visit to Singapore, students observed and analyzed tourist destinations as one of the creative economies of one of the developed countries in ASEAN. While at the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia, students discussed career and internship opportunities there.
On their visit to Thaksin University, students had the opportunity to interact directly with the academic community there. Economics Trip participants also felt the nuances of learning at the Songkhla Thailand campus. They visited several iconic spots such as classrooms, the library -with various facilities such as karaoke rooms and student lounges-, and the Ceremonial Graduation Hall.
“In addition to gaining insight into one of the campuses abroad, at Thaksin University we have the opportunity to interact directly with students and lecturers,” said Melly Roro, one of the Economics Trip 2024 participants.
Melly said that this opportunity also opened up opportunities to collaborate in international projects and other international exposure. “Or simply exchanging information about self-development, careers or interesting issues between countries that are very interesting to study more deeply,” she added.
Dr Muhammad Findi and Dian Verawati Panjaitan SE, MSi as accompanying lecturers also appreciated this activity. According to both of them, this visit will be able to complement students’ soft skills with analytical skills. Not only that, this program also opens up other international collaboration opportunities.
The visit also opened a new perspective for students about the potential of the destination country in terms of economy, culture, education, and technology in a sustainable manner. This program is also expected to bring change with creative ideas that arise in the midst of existing global challenges and competition, according to the theme raised: Transformation of Economics: Unleashing Local Potentials, Achieving Future Goals.
