The Production Technology and Development of Agricultural Communities Study Programme (PPP) of IPB University Vocational School, again carried out community service activities involving the Ciharashas Women Farmers Group (KWT), Mulyaharja Village, Bogor City. This activity focused on monitoring and evaluating the use of vegetable pesticides.

The activity was accompanied by the Chairman of IPB University’s PPP Study Program, Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq, SP, MSi, and several other lecturers including Agief Julio Pratama, SP, MSi, Tri Budiarto SKPm, MSi, Ririh Sekar Mardisiwi MSi, and Dr Edi Wiraguna. Students Revalina Sulaeman and Sylvina Azkyah, as well as more than 10 members of KWT Ciharashas were enthusiastic and actively participated in this activity.

“We express our gratitude to all KWT members who have played an active role in this activity. We appreciate the efforts made by the women of KWT Ciharashas in developing and implementing the use of vegetable pesticides as a way to maintain agricultural sustainability and support environmentally friendly agriculture,” said Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq.

The results of monitoring and evaluation showed that several commodities applied with vegetable pesticides developed well. The growth is also good, such as more fertile and not attacked by pests.

Since the training on making vegetable pesticides on 7 September, KWT Ciharashas has been able to make vegetable pesticides again more than 2 times. During the previous training, papaya leaves were the main ingredient in making vegetable pesticides, now KWT Ciharashas has been able to make their own with other ingredients, namely neem leaves which are widely available on the KWT land.

Muhammad Iqbal also emphasised the importance of reducing the use of harmful chemical pesticides and replacing them with vegetable pesticides that are safer for the environment and human health. The PPP lecturer also praised the spirit of the Ciharashas KWT women in working together and innovating for the advancement of local agriculture.

“As a form of appreciation, the PPP study programme handed over some assistance as a form of appreciation to KWT Ciharashas. The high appreciation is expected to support their agricultural activities and motivate them to continue to innovate and protect the environment in their daily farming practices,” he explained.

The members of KWT Ciharashas also expressed their gratitude to the PPP study programme lecturers for their support and assistance. They expressed their happiness and hope that this kind of activity can continue to strengthen the agricultural community in Mulyaharja Village, as well as strengthen the synergy between IPB University Vocational School, the government, and farmer groups.
