Again, IPB University Achieves Best 1 in Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards 2024
For the third time, IPB University again won an award as the best university in the Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards 2024. The award was presented by the Vice President of Indonesia, Prof Ma’ruf Amin, in an event that took place in Jakarta (7/10).
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria expressed his gratitude for this achievement. He said, this award was achieved thanks to the contribution and participation of all IPB University residents, namely lecturers, education staff (tendik), and students for their hard work together in realizing the achievement of SDGs.
“To build this sustainability, IPB University collaborates with universities, local governments and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in Indonesia. This is a strategic step to achieve sustainable development,” he said.
“IPB University will continue to be committed and contribute to accelerating the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia, this is in line with one of the main strategies, namely “IPB Hadir” in the use of agromaritime innovation 4.0 through the expansion of collaborative community service programs for the socio-economic resilience of rural communities in the framework of achieving SDG’s. This is realized in various programs that focus on achieving SDGs. This is manifested in various programs that focus on impact,” Prof Arif continued.
In his remarks, the Vice President said that Indonesia is the most progressive country in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reaching 62,5 percent. This figure is much better than the global average achievement, which is 17 percent.
“We should be proud of Indonesia’s development progress, including the reduction of extreme poverty. This is a reflection of Indonesia’s strong commitment to maintaining social health,” he explained.
In addition, the Vice President also emphasized several things, such as inclusive education in an effort to develop skills, human resources (HR) that have high competitiveness, the application of green economy, green industrial development. According to him, these things are important as an effort to accelerate the achievement of SDGs.
Therefore, he continued, “The government encourages sustainable investment, quality employment, inclusive economy and also supports the Islamic economy as a great potential for new economic sources.”
He advised that this achievement means that there is still 37,5 percent of the target to be achieved. For this reason, he hopes that the community will continue to increase their commitment to achieving the 2030 SDGs.
Meanwhile, Dr Suharso Monoarfa, Minister of National Development Planning/Chief of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) revealed the same thing. He said that Indonesia’s SDGs achievement, which reached 62,5 percent of 222 indicators, made Indonesia 4 times better than the global average.
He also mentioned a good example in achieving SDGs what was done by IPB University through the People’s Livestock School initiative by empowering people’s livestock with the application of circular economy so as to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) effect. (dh/Rz) (IAAS/ZQA)
