Visit UMKM Rumah Kedelai Pak Mien Soya Ayu, IPB University CEO School Program Prepares Young Entrepreneurs
IPB University’s CEO School Program organized by the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) visited the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Pak Mien’s Soy House located in Benteng Village, Ciampea, Bogor (25/8).
Pak Mien Soybean House is known for its varied soy-based products, including soy milk, peyek, brownies, sambal pecel, emping, cookies, and potatoes. The uniqueness of this MSME lies in the comprehensive utilization of soybeans from meat, skin, to pulp, thus adopting the principle of ‘Zero Waste’ in every production.
The flagship product of this MSME is Soya Ayu, a processed soy milk made without preservatives and artificial sweeteners. Soya Ayu uses GMP sugar, making it a healthy and natural choice for consumers. The success of this MSME in creating quality products cannot be separated from the hard work and dedication of Agus Murtini (57 years old), the owner of Pak Mien Soybean House.
In a discussion with Agus Murtini, she shared the challenges faced in developing this business. One of the main challenges is the difference in perspective with employees regarding optimizing production time. In addition, ineffective marketing and social media management as well as cost constraints are problems that must be overcome.
Nevertheless, Agus did not give up. She actively participates in various trainings and believes that knowledge is a valuable asset that is very important. She is even willing to sacrifice personal assets for the advancement of his business.
“Today’s visit from CEO School means a lot to us. We felt encouraged and gained new perspectives on how to manage and grow our business. I really appreciate the opportunity to share our experiences and hope we can continue to innovate, such as with the soya taro cookies and soya candy products that we are planning. Thank you to the CEO School for their attention and encouragement,” she said.
Future innovation plans from Pak Mien Soy House include the creation of new products such as soya taro cookies, soap, and soya candy. This innovation shows their commitment to continue to grow and meet diverse market needs. Agus also welcomed the presence of the CEO School group and hopes they can visit again in the future.
This visit is part of IPB University’s CEO School’s efforts to prepare young entrepreneurs by giving them direct insight into the world of MSMEs and the challenges faced by business actors. Through this program, it is hoped that future generations will be better prepared and skilled in managing and developing their own businesses.
Adit, one of the students participating in the visit, also shared his impressions. “Today’s visit to Pak Mien’s Soy House gave me many valuable lessons about the world of MSMEs. I was impressed by Ms. Agus’ dedication and how she overcame the challenges,” he said.
“She showed me that success in business depends not only on creative ideas, but also on perseverance and willingness to learn. Seeing the production process and hearing Ms. Agus’ story has motivated me to become an entrepreneur in the future. Thank you CEO School for this opportunity!” said this IPB University student.
