The Agrometeorology Student Association (Himagreto) of IPB University has just celebrated a historic moment by organizing the 9th Lustrum which took place in a festive and inspirational manner.

The event was held to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology (GFM) at the auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. This activity not only marked the establishment of the GFM Department and the association of student organizations, but also became a moment of reflection and preparation of the vision and mission for the future.

The 9th Lustrum raised the theme “Transforming Resilience Towards Superior Meteorologists,” which emphasized the importance of adaptation and resilience in facing global challenges to produce competitive meteorologists.

The event was attended by GFM IPB University alumni, including Prof Erna Sri, Director of the National Innovation Secretariat for Natural Resources at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). She provided insights on the role of research and development in supporting climate and food security, and motivated students to face the future.

Another alumni, Deti Triani, a representative from the United Nations Development Programme, also shared her experience on climate change mitigation and marine resource management. Jannata Giwangkara, Project Manager for Energy at Climateworks Centre, emphasized the importance of integration of renewable energy and technology in addressing climate change challenges.

We hope Himagreto continues to inspire students to actively work in the increasingly dynamic and challenging climate change sector,” he said.

Chairman of Himagreto Alumni Association, Ir Andy Aliwansyah, expressed his hope that Himagreto will be more advanced and provide great benefits for GFM students and the wider community.

“Hopefully this 9th Lustrum can add value to GFM, especially in achieving the Main Performance Index (IKU). Continue to work, innovate, and inspire for a brighter future. Happy 45th Anniversary to Himagreto and the GFM Department of FMIPA IPB University,” said Ir Andy. (IAAS/ZQA)
