IPB University students held a closing ceremony for the IPB University Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) in Dangiang Village, Banjarwangi District, Garut Regency, West Java. This closing event marks the end of KKNT activities of IPB University students who have successfully carried out three excellent work programs to create an empowered and prosperous village.

Located at the Dangiang Village Sports Center (GOR), the event was attended by the chieftain, head of village, Forest Farmers Group (KTH), Forest Village Community Organization (LMDH), Principal of SDN 01 Dangiang and Principal of MI Miftahul Faizin Madrasah and the Dangiang Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU). A number of Garut University (Uniga) students also attended the closing ceremony.

According to Rafi Chaidir Kusumo Prastiono, Coordinator of KKNT Innovation Dangiang Village, the closing ceremony was a medium for students to present the results of the work program they had carried out for 43 days and also to ask for feedback in the form of questions, suggestions, and input from the community.

“We have successfully implemented three excellent programs, namely assistance in applying for a Social Forestry Decree (SKPS), socialization of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and making the Dangiang Village Jagoan Information System (Siujang). We are very optimistic that these three programs can be a stepping stone to optimize the potential in Dangiang Village,” he said.

Dangiang Village itself with the help of students has proposed social forestry management with a community forest scheme in their village. Next is to wait for verification to be carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). If the proposal is accepted, the SKPS will be issued so that cultivators can manage the forest legally and are entitled to management assistance.

“The PHBS that we implemented can also be considered a success. This can be seen from the significant increase in understanding from students and also the results of their handicrafts in the form of trash cans. Hopefully, the behavior of throwing garbage into the river due to the lack of trash cans can be reduced,” said Rafi.

He continued, Siujang, which was initiated by the KKNT Innovation team, has also been completed. People inside and outside the village have been able to access demographic, geographic, and socio-cultural information of Dangiang Village. The information system can help the community to recognize and optimize the potential of Dangiang Village.

According to Rafi, behind the success of the program that has been implemented, they also have to ensure that the program that has been implemented will continue. Therefore, they collaborated with a group of KKN Uniga students to participate in the closing ceremony.

“Uniga students have only been in Dangiang Village for two days. We have discussed, and indeed they admit that they need a lot of information about the problems and programs that have been running in the village. Our presentation can be a valuable source of information for them in carrying out work programs to create an empowered and prosperous Dangiang Village,” he added. (*/Rz) (IAAS/SNI)
