The Science and Technology Area Institute (LKST) of IPB University hosted a Coaching Legal Clinic as part of the Business Incubation Program titled Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technopark (PRIME STeP). The event took place at the Ballroom of the Startup Center Building in Bogor on August 26.

Prof Erika B Laconi, Chief of LKST IPB University, expressed the institution’s commitment to fostering the growth and development of startups through business incubation programs. One of these initiatives includes the Legal Clinic sharing session.

“Startups must be of the right quality, adhere to regulations, and be timely. Through this Legal Clinic, we hope to help startups comply with business and product regulations, such as handling business legality and product distribution permits,” said Prof Erika.

The event featured Rieke Caroline, Founder of Kontrak Hukum and a News Anchor for Metro TV’s Business Program, as a speaker. She explained that startups exist at various levels, each with distinct incubation and acceleration needs.

“These levels can lead to a range of startup issues, from investor negotiations to the establishment of limited liability companies (PT) and product distribution permits. Going forward, legal materials can be integrated into coaching and mentoring sessions based on the specific needs of startups,” she emphasized.

Rieke expressed her hope that LKST IPB University would guide startups to align with IPB University’s innovations, enabling them to become innovation-based startups. During the coaching session, she shared the history of the establishment of Kontrak Hukum, discussed legal aspects in business through case studies, and engaged in direct discussions with the participants.

Nine startups from the PRIME STeP 2024 program received direct coaching from the Kontrak Hukum consulting team, focusing on the legal and business aspects of each startup. (Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
