IPB University’s Advanced Research Laboratory (ARLab) unit organized an open house of laboratory equipment. The exhibition of IPB University’s excellent research facilities was held on (24-26/9) at Grha Widya Wisuda Building (GWW), IPB Dramaga Campus.

Vice Rector of IPB University for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi said, the open house activity aimed to introduce the latest IPB University research facility equipment in ARLab IPB University.

“Not only that, this open house is also a place for the entire IPB University community and researchers outside IPB University to get to know and interact with vendors of lab equipment providers, and also as a place to exchange information among researchers,” said Prof Ernan, (24/9).

Prof Ernan said that the next laboratory equipment open house activity will be synergized with the exhibition of the latest research of IPB University. This activity will routinely be held every year at the momentum of IPB University’s Anniversary.

He added, IPB University through ARLab is committed to updating laboratory equipment to support research activities, especially in the field of agromaritime. The latest laboratory equipment will also be well maintained.

“Before IPB University had an Excellent Research Laboratory Unit (ARLab), sophisticated equipment was scattered in relatively small units and we saw that many were not sustainable, many were unable to maintain the equipment,” he said.

“But if it is now concentrated at the institutional level, God willing, IPB University has the ability to continue to maintain it because IPB University has a fixed budget for the Research Laboratory Unit. God willing, the funds continue to increase and we continue to consolidate the sources of support from various parties,” continued Prof Ernan.

Prof Ernan said that laboratory equipment owned by IPB University is not only used by the campus community, but also many researchers outside IPB University who utilize these laboratory facilities.

“Alhamdulillah, so far there are quite a lot of users from students, and from users outside IPB University there are also more and more. ARLab IPB University is slowly being recognized even though it has only been five years,” he said.

Chairman of ARLab IPB University, Dr Irdika Mansur said, the open house activity of IPB University laboratory equipment followed by 31 companies was welcomed enthusiastically by students and researchers. So far, there have been 240 people recorded visiting the activity and 365 people for webinar participants.

“Then as many as five vendors will share their knowledge through webinars. Why only five? We prioritize new equipment vendors selected by IPB University. Experts from these vendors will explain the use of tools for what research can be done,” he said. (MHT/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
