IPB University Vocational School Lecturer Introduces Environmentally Friendly and Modern Technology to KWT Ciharashas, Bogor
A team of lecturer and students of IPB University from the Study Program of Production Technology and Agricultural Community Development (PPP), Vocational School, returned to the Ciharashas Women Farmers Group (KWT), Mulyaharja, Bogor City. The presence of a team of IPB University lecturers and students is in the context of monitoring and evaluating the use of vegetable pesticides, the application of local microorganisms (MOL), organic fertilizers, and the use of drones to support more modern and environmentally friendly agricultural management.
Chairman of the IPB University PPP Study Program, Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq, MSi said that the monitoring was carried out in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the use of environmentally friendly pesticides in KWT Ciharashas. He said, this evaluation aims to determine the impact of vegetable pesticides on plant productivity and ecosystem balance.
“We also want to see and ensure whether the KWT members have implemented standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the farming,” said Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq.
Iqbal continued, in addition to monitoring and evaluation, the team also provided training on the use of MOL and organic fertilizer. He explained that MOL is an important component in organic farming. MOL functions to improve soil fertility, maintain plant health, and increase crop yields.
“With the application of organic fertilizer, KWT Ciharashas is expected to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers that have a negative impact on the environment in the long run,” he said.
In addition to the application of organic farming technology, the IPB University lecturer also introduced drone technology for land mapping and crop monitoring. The use of drones aims to facilitate the process of monitoring land conditions in real-time, so that land management can be carried out more efficiently.
“This service program is a form of PPP Study Program’s commitment in supporting the community, especially KWT Ciharashas. With environmentally friendly technology and modern innovation, it is expected to increase agricultural productivity, while maintaining environmental sustainability,” concluded Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq.
This service activity was attended by a number of lecturers, students, and agricultural extension workers. IPB University lecturers who participated included Tri Budiarto SKPm, MSi as the person in charge of PS PPP, Ririh Sekar Mardisiwi, MSi, and Restu Puji Mumpuni, SP, MSi. The Agricultural Extension Work Unit of the Bogor City Food Security and Agriculture Office, Agus Faisal SIKom was also present. The IPB University PPP students who joined were Revalina Sulaeman, Sylvina Azkyah, Ardi Malaka Biaro, Anna Sabrina, Alleta Aviel Kanayla, Frida Matia Sarri, Ihza Fadlan Izzuddin, Navea Azzam Martana.
