Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University once again organised Eco-Adventure Training Camp 2024. This activity took place from 24 August to 8 September 2024 at IPB Dramaga Campus and Fahutan Campus Forest Park.

Eco-Adventure Training Camp is an activity that aims to develop student soft skills and create superior human resources (HR) in the field of forestry and the environment. This activity was attended by active students of Fahutan IPB University batches 60 to 57.

Eco-Adventure Training Camp 2024 activities which were technically led by Sutopo SHut, MSi and this team included the provision of various advanced materials. Starting from the introduction of medicinal plants and the introduction of wildlife in the IPB Dramaga Campus area, bird banding, to camping techniques.

All of these materials were delivered through interactive learning methods in class, self-learning, and direct practice in the field by camping in the outdoors located in the Fahutan Forest Park, IPB Dramaga Campus.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean of Fahutan IPB University for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof Noor Farikhah Haneda. She said, this activity provides an opportunity for students to gain additional insights for those who have not received material during lecture activities, as well as deepening knowledge for those who have learned it.

“This training not only emphasises the theoretical aspects, but also provides hands-on practical experience that is important for the development of field skills,” she said.

One of the best participants, Tegarianti Agustina Hermawan, an IPB University student from the Department of Forest Resource Conservation and Ecotourism (KSHE), expressed her positive impression of this activity. “This training was very enjoyable and enriched my knowledge.”

“The material presented is so interactive that it is easy to understand, also making topics that initially seem ordinary become interesting and full of information. The self-learning assignments also played an important role in deepening my understanding,” she said.

As a student of the KSHE Department, she admitted that he previously had little understanding of bird banding techniques. But after participating in this training, she understands the importance of the method in bird conservation efforts. “I hope this activity can be held regularly and attract more students,” she said.

The various materials and experiences provided during the training were carried out with the hope that Eco-Adventure Training Camp 2024 participants can apply the knowledge gained in their academic and professional activities in the future, as well as play a more active role in environmental conservation efforts.
