The Program for Capacity Building of Student Organizations (PPK Ormawa) team from the Family and Consumer Sciences Student Association (Himaiko) at IPB University introduced a product innovation and established a product brand, which will be marketed and sustainably managed by the residents of Ciburayut Village, Cigombong District, Bogor Regency, West Java.

Through the Women’s School program, the team provided training, supplied cooking practice materials, guided practical sessions, and developed a proper branding and marketing strategy for the products.

On Sunday, September 1st, the Himaiko PPK Ormawa team successfully held the second ‘Kelas Wira Berdaya’ at Villa Bu Acum, RW 02 Selaawi, Ciburayut Village. This consumer empowerment class was attended by 25 people, including female chiefs of households from Ciburayut Village and members of the Himaiko PPK Ormawa team.

Matta Cinta Salsabila, the chief of the PPK Ormawa Himaiko team, shared her experiences about the lively ‘Kelas Wira Berdaya 2’.  Matta explained that the program aims to enhance the skills of Ciburayut residents by producing innovative products, such as cassava crisps and cassava leaf chips, covering the entire process from packaging to producing marketing videos.

“One highlight of our cassava crisps and cassava leaf chips is their uniqueness, as these products are innovative and not widely available, offering the potential for higher profits,” Matta said.

The production resulted in 10 packs of cassava crisps and 10 packs of cassava leaf chips, which were then distributed equally among the participants. The products will be marketed and managed through the Shopee account rayutrasa.02, providing benefits by increasing the income of female heads of households in Ciburayut Village.

The activity was met with enthusiasm by the women of Ciburayut Village, as evident from their expressions and eagerness during the cassava crisp and cassava leaf chip production process.

‘Kelas Wira Berdaya 2’ is a practical implementation of the production, marketing, and branding materials that were introduced in the previous session, ‘Kelas Wira Berdaya 1’. The hands-on practice reinforced the concepts and improved participants’ understanding of the theories, supporting the success of the Kampung Muni Tohaga program.

“Our next plan is to launch the Rayut Rasa products, which will eventually be continued and managed by the residents of Ciburayut Village, establishing a production house for them to generate greater income than before,” Matta concluded. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
