Department of Physics IPB University Holds International Conference on Interdisciplinary Physics
The Department of Physics IPB University held the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Physics (ICIPs). This conference was held in collaboration with the Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering (INEE) Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), the Department of Physics of the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB), and the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI).
The chairman of the committee, Dr Erus Rustami explained that ICIPs is a strong platform for transdisciplinary collaboration and research initiatives. The theme ‘Empowering Circularity through the Advancement of Science’, reflects the collective determination to address the critical sustainability challenges facing the world.
“By bringing together experts, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the world, we can work together to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges around environmental degradation, climate change, and food security,” he said.
He also said that ICIPs 2024 serves as an important platform to encourage collaboration and innovation across disciplinary boundaries. Here, physicists, engineers, and scientists from various fields gather to share their expertise and inspire breakthrough ideas that will drive towards a more sustainable future.
“The existence of the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Physics is also a dedication to playing a role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030,” he added.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University, Dr Berry Juliandi in his speech said, “Sustainability is more than just a trendy term, it is a call to action for the welfare of our planet and all its inhabitants. Our vision at IPB University is to become a leading research institution that drives innovation for national independence.”
“We strive to become a techno-socio entrepreneurial university that excels at the global level in the fields of agriculture, marine science, and tropical biosciences. This vision not only includes academic activities, but also includes deep relationships with the community,” said Dr Berry Juliandi, when opening the event.
The conference was held in a hybrid manner and was attended by 77 participants (23 offline participants and 52 online participants). Topics covered are Nanophysics/Nanoengineering, Biophysics/Biomass/
