Visiting Indonesia, Fahutan IPB University Facilitates KPZ UPM to Learn Culture to Flora Conservation Variety

Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University received a visit from Kolej Pendeta Za’ba (KPZ) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The arrival of KPZ UPM to Indonesia was in the framework of comparative studies as well as strengthening the relationship between the two institutions. The comparative study took place from 6 August to 19 August 2024.

The KPZ UPM group consisting of 20 students and three lecturers arrived in Indonesia (6/8) and was warmly welcomed by Fahutan IPB University students at Soekarno Hatta Airport. On the next day, the activity continued with a kickoff event filled with a brief introduction from KPZ UPM and Fahutan IPB University.

“This activity aims to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions and provide insight into the programme and purpose of this comparative study,” said the Dean of Fahutan IPB University, Prof Naresworo Nugroho.

In this comparative study programme, UPM students participated in various activities that had been arranged. They visited the Bogor Botanical Garden to learn about Indonesia’s flora diversity and conservation efforts. UPM students also shared food with IPB University students in a social event aimed at strengthening friendship between the two groups. 

Not only that, to deepen their understanding of Indonesian culture, they participated in various cultural activities, such as learning traditional dances, getting to know local culinary, and visiting historical places in Bogor. Finally, the UPM group will visit the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta to discuss and gain further insight into the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
