Team PPKO BEM Fema of IPB University and Sadaya Collaborate to Realize the Generation of Environmental Care in Sukawening Village
The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program Team (PPK Ormawa) Student Executive Board (BEM) Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) from IPB University initiated the Sukawening Educational Friends Program Based on Education Character Values to Realize Quality Smart Villages (Sembada).
In its implementation, this activity collaborated with Satya Muda Berdaya (Sadaya) IPB University which is a service program of the Department of Environment with the Department of Social and Community Development BEM Fema. This program took place at Madrasah Ar-Ridwan Sukawening Village, Dramaga, Bogor Regency, West Java.
Mutiara, one of the members of the PPKO BEM Fema IPB University team, said that this program aims to instil an attitude of caring for the environment from an early age in children.
In this activity, the PPKO BEM Fema team and Sadaya IPB University provide education on how to plant and care for plants and types of waste. “Through this activity, we hope to motivate children to always take care of the environment starting from simple things, such as planting and caring for plants and throwing garbage in their place according to their type.”
Not only limited to education, this activity is also an effort to instil the value of the character to Love of God and All His Creations adapted from the Indonesia Heritage Foundation. Through this value, it is hoped that it can instil love for the environment in the children of the Madrasah Ar-Ridwan.
Mutiara added, in this activity, children are also invited to recycle bottle waste into flower pots. Flower pots are made from plastic bottle waste that is cut into pot shapes and then decorated by painting. Children are free to create paintings on flower pots. One of the children of the madrasah, Bilqis, expressed his pleasure for this activity. “Today is really fun, Sis. We can play and paint,” she said.
“This practice is expected to be one of the solutions to reduce plastic waste in the surrounding environment,” said Mutiara. ‘This practice can also increase children’s creativity,’ she added.
After this education is carried out, at the next meeting the PPKO BEM Fema team will also hold the practice of planting plants directly together with the children. “Later, children will also be invited to practice planting together as an implementation of the education that has been delivered,” said Salsabilla, the Leader of the PPKO team from BEM Fema.
With this activity, it is hoped that awareness of cleanliness and environmental sustainability can be embedded from an early age in children. The collaboration between the BEM Fema PPKO team and Sadaya IPB is a positive step to realize a healthier and cleaner environment. (*/Rz) (IAAS/IAN)
