SDIT NU Walisongo Students Learn to Manage Integrated Waste with KKNT Students of IPB University Innovation
In order to introduce the concept of waste management to the younger generation, the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Centre (TPS3R) Greget Lumintu collaborated with students of the Innovation Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) of IPB University in Wado Village to participate in the activities of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) SDIT NU Walisongo.
This activity is designed so that students can understand the environment around Wado Village, especially the Greget Lumintu Waste Bank Foundation, through interactive and fun methods.
TPS3R Greget Lumintu in Wado Village, Kedungtuban District, Blora Regency, Central Java has become an integrated waste processing facility that aims to reduce the volume of waste entering the Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Wado Village and Pulo Village.
More than just waste management, this TPS3R is expected to be a pilot model for other villages in an effective and sustainable waste management effort.
“As part of MPLS, we introduce the surrounding environment to children, including the Greget Lumintu Waste Bank Foundation in Wado Village, so that they can understand more about what is around the school,” said Uswa, one of the NU Walisongo SDIT teachers.
Raihan Putra Nabil, one of the students of KKNT Innovation at Wado Village, explained that the Greget Lumintu Waste Bank Foundation together with IPB University students compiled a concept so that SDIT NU Walisongo students could learn about the types of organic and inorganic waste, as well as practice waste sorting directly.
“This activity also teaches the concept of 3R and how to process waste into works that have added value,” he added.
M Nurudin Khoiril Huda, the manager of TPS3R, emphasised the importance of making simple but exciting activities for students. “Let’s just discuss the concept of the event. Make it simple because the audience is elementary school students. We can make it like games or other exciting activities,” he said.
Raihan added that the series of activities is arranged in a light and fun way to make it easier for students to understand and practice directly. NU Walisongo IT Elementary School students are divided into six playgroups, with rules that have been prepared to go through each predetermined post, one of which is waste recycling activities.
With this activity, it is hoped that students will not only get a pleasant experience, but also practical knowledge about the importance of waste management for a better future. (*/Lp) (IAAS/IAN)
