Promoting Moringa, KKNT Innovation IPB University Students Together with PKK Ketileng Village Make Sang Kelor Innovation
Moringa as one of the plants that has many benefits, encourages Ketileng Village to aggressively plant moringa in every house with the ‘One House One Moringa Tree’ program. Moringa has been widely used because it has excellent nutrition as well as one of the food ingredients for the supplementary food program (PMT).
Seeing this potential, students of the IPB University Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) in Ketileng Village, Tegal, Central Java made an innovation of moringa banana nuggets or named ‘Sang Kelor’. Moringa can be processed as a vegetable as well as a processed additive such as nuggets.
Widiya Kusuma, one of the KKNT Innovation members, explained that making this nugget is quite easy. Therefore, IPB University students demonstrated the making of it to the Ketileng Village family empowerment program (PKK) mothers.
“Don’t boil the moringa leaves, just bring the water to a boil and then turn it off. The moringa leaves will be soaked for a while and then drained,” said one of the residents who already knew the proper processing of moringa leaves.
In addition to the innovation of Sang Kelor, KKNT Innovation students together with PKK mothers planted moringa tree seedlings as one of the movements that support the One House One Moringa Tree program.
“These seedlings are given to residents who do not yet have moringa trees in their yards or courtyards,” Widiya concluded.
Ketileng Village cadre, Midwife Yetty, also plays an active role in promoting moringa by innovating so that people are fond of planting and consuming moringa. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
